Overview

Deep in the heart of Baratang Island, the Limestone Caves stand as one of the most fascinating natural wonders of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. These ancient caves, sculpted over thousands of years by the slow drip of mineral-rich water, showcase a surreal landscape of stalactites, stalagmites, and intricate rock patterns.

Getting to the Limestone Caves is an adventure in itself. Visitors journey through dense mangrove creeks on a motorized boat, followed by a short trek through tropical forests making the entire experience a beautiful blend of exploration, nature, and discovery.

What Makes the Limestone Caves Special?

Natural Rock Formations
The caves are formed through the natural deposition of calcium carbonate. Inside, you’ll find glittering white and golden stalactites hanging from the roof, with stalagmites rising from the floor, creating otherworldly shapes and textures that look straight out of a fantasy world.

Mangrove Creek Ride
The journey begins with a breathtaking boat ride through a maze of mangroves, offering a chance to glide over still waters surrounded by thick greenery. The silence of the creek, broken only by birdcalls and the sound of oars, sets the perfect mood for the adventure ahead.

Jungle Trek
After the boat ride, a 1.2 km guided forest trek leads to the cave entrance. This easy hike is shaded, scenic, and full of natural beauty, with glimpses of exotic flora and fauna along the way.

Whether you’re inside the caves capturing the surreal formations or documenting your journey through the mangroves and forests, the Limestone Caves offer incredible photo moments at every step.
